Astronomads Bangla is a group of astrophotography enthusiasts from West Bengal, India.

The group aims to popularize astrophotography in India.

Formed in 2020, the group consists of four members.

According to the renowned “Astronomy” Magazine ” India is home to one of the world’s fasters growing astroimaging communities, and this group is at the movement’s leading edge.

 

 

Basudeb Chakrabarti is a Physics graduate and an Electrical Engineer by profession. He has been working in the power industry for the last 15 years. He endeavored into astrophotography during the lockdown period. In just 4 years, he has more than 50 international publications and more than 15 APODs. His images have been awarded in platforms like NASA, Earthsky, etc and has won international astrophotography awards.

Goutam Dey is a post-graduate in Anthropology and has been working in the health-care industry for the last 15 years. He has been amazed by the night sky since childhood. Goutam took a leap onto the hobby of astronomy and astrophotography in 2020. His images have appeared in BBC Sky at Night, Astronomy Now etc. He is an avid visual astronomer as well.

Samit Saha
is a Civil Engineer working in the field of constructions for the last 26 years. As a child, he was always fascinated by the mysteries of space and with the visuals of the night sky. He took up the hobby of astrophotography in early 2021. His images have appeared in multiple international magazines including BBC, Astronomy, National Geographic, etc. His images have secured awards in various international competitions.

Soumyadeep Mukherjee is a linguist by profession. He has been pursuing astrophotography for the last 4 years. He has over 170 publications in international books, magazines, newspaper and more than 110 APODs in an array of international platforms. His images have appeared in more than 30 different magazines and in platforms such as National Geographic, Forbes, Times, Guardian, NASA, Spaceweather, etc. In 2022, he was awarded the prestigious “Astronomy Photographer of the Year” award as the first Indian.
