In celebration of International Astronomy Day, Astronomads Bangla, in association with M. P. Birla Planetarium, Kolkata
along with Nikon as Equipment Partner, brings to you a workshop on astronomy and astrophotography: “Capturing the Cosmic Lights”.

This workshop, aimed at people of all age groups (12 and older) and of all photography skill levels, will enrich your knowledge
in the topics of astronomy and astrophotography. Divided into four sessions, each session is curated to provide the best possible
discussion and demonstration on the topics.

Time: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Session 1: Connecting Astronomy and Astrophotography (3:00 PM to 4:00 PM)
Speaker: Mr. S. Datta (Curator, M. P. Birla Planetarium, Kolkata)
• Motions of Earth
• Introduction to Spherical Geometry
• Coordinates: Right ascension (RA) and Declination (DEC)

Session 2: A Theoretical Introduction to Astrophotography (4:00 PM to 5:45 PM)
Speaker: Mr. Soumyadeep Mukherjee (Astrophotographer)
• Introduction to Astrophotography
• Subtypes of Astrophotography
• Equipment required for Astrophotography
• Planning for an astrophotography trip and session
• Photographing in the field
• Discussion on pre-processing and post-processing
• The growing concern on light pollution

Session 3: Demonstration of Equipment (5:45 PM to 6:30 PM)
Speaker: Mr. Basudeb Chakrabarti (Astrophotographer)
• Camera and Lens
• Accessories required for astrophotography
• Star tracker and how to use it on field

Snacks Break and Certificate Distribution (6:30 PM to 7:00 PM)

Session 4: Practical Session (7:00 PM to 8:00 PM)
• Setting up your equipment
• Focusing on stars
• Focusing on the moon
• Using internal/external intervalometer for photography

During the workshop, Nikon will be hosting a product experience corner (Astroshop Room, M. P. Birla Planetarium) where
participants will get an opportunity to experience various Nikon products hands-on.

Registration Fee: INR 100

 The workshop is limited to only 100 participants
 Registration is mandatory to attend the workshop
 Opportunity to registration is provided on a first-come-first-serve basis
 Snacks will be provided to all participants
 All participants are eligible for a certificate
